Soprano

This soprano is a 2 octave marimba with tube resonators. I can also make this with a box resonator if you would like. The range on this baby is middle C to C above the treble staff. In the classroom, I usually put 2 students at a time on this one. It has a nice set of wheels for transport and can be stored upright, just like it’s counterpart, the 3.5 octave marimba.

The soprano may be smaller than the 3.5 octave, but, much like my grandson, Spencer, he can hold his own against his big brother, Ethan! This 2 octave marimba gets a great sound and is kind of spunky (like Spencer).  The soprano is short and compact. My students usually sit when they play this, although kindergartners and first graders could probably stand.

The regular soprano is the one right in the middle. Don’t these three make a smart looking trio? They also sound great together. With these three marimbas, I can keep 5-8 students busy. Another thing you should know; you can take out whatever bars you want, so if you are working on pentatonic musc you can set it up however you want. F# and Bb bars are also available if you want to do something in the keys of G or F.
