Latin Rhythms

When I attended the Doug Goodkin Orff workshop several months ago, we learned a couple of songs that use a lot of latin percussion. We had the marimbas, as well as conga, drum set, agogo bells, shakers, maracas, etc. It was a blast and sounded really cool. I was recently searching for some more latin rhythms I could teach my classes. I came upon this gem. It’s called Latin Rhythms: Mystery Unraveled. It was put together by Victor Lopez for the 2005 Midwest Clinic. It includes a glossary of latin percussion terms, recommended discography, and suggestions for putting a full rhythm section together. It also includes several different latin rhythm patterns, including salsa, songo, mambo, cha-cha-cha, etc. I found it very helpful.
