3.5 Octave

original Zimba

I just love this marimba. He’s one of my favorites. I can put 2-3 students at a time on it; a bass part, a harmony and melody. The 3.5 octave marimba is a box resonator marimba that has wheels, so it’s easy to move around. When it’s time to go the auditorium or gym for a performance, it’s easy to get there.  It can also be stored upright, so it doesn’t take up much space when you’re all done.

When you look at it from the nose end, it looks like it’s ready to pounce on you! This instrument is great for kids in an elementary school program. It’s perfect for using the Orff method. Any of the bars can be removed, so you can remove the F and B bars for a pentatonic scale. You can also purchase extra F# and Bb bars.

This marimba is made of African Padauk for the tone bars, and maple for the frame. It’s solid and sounds great.

In this picture, the 3.5 octave is the one in the back.

You can store ’em upright, as seen in the next pic.
